PITTSBURGH , September 30, 2008⌠Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that its comprehensive power management software products are now cross compatible with its PowerwareÂŽ, MGE Office Protection Systemsâ˘, Aphel and PulizziÂŽ product families.
âThe successful cross-compatibility of our powerful management solutions is a strong testament to the rapid and successful integration of MGE Office Protection Systems, Aphel and Pulizzi product families within Eaton,â said HervĂŠ Tardy, vice president and general manager, Distributed Power Quality Business Unit of Eaton. Now, customers have full compatibility and functionality of their Eaton power management software regardless of which UPS, network management card or PDU they are using.â
Enterprise Power Manager, LanSafe 6, and Netwatch 5 are 3 key components of Eatonâs industry leading solutions for managing uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), servers and power distribution units (PDUs).
Enterprise Power Manager, the flagship solution for power management across the enterprise and initially designed for Eatonâs MGE Office Protection Systems product family, is now compatible with Eatonâs ePDU and Powerware single-phase UPS product line. Now, users of both MGE Office Protection Systems and Powerware product families can view and manage their entire UPS and ePDU power chain providing a single point of focus for power management activity. Moreover, the software can supervise multiple PDUs in a datacenter from a central location and can trigger automatic actions based on preset thresholds and other management criteria. In addition, aggregate capturing and event actions including broadcast, e-mail, automatic running of scripts, console sounds, etc., allows central and coordinated control of how key data center events are handled. In addition, due to the softwareâs open architecture, any UPS in the Powerware product family can be monitored from the management software using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) as well as legacy UPSs from other brands.
This robust software program is designed to give network managers an intuitive and easy way of managing all of their distributed power devices across the network. Enterprise Power Manager can substantially lower costs for supervising multiple UPSs and PDUs compared to using major network management system platforms.
LanSafe v. 6 delivers comprehensive power management capabilities including graceful, remote shutdown of UPS systems and network monitoring tools via serial, USB, and network connectivity options. LanSafe v.6 is now compatible with all MGE Office Protection Systems UPS product families like the new award-winning Evolution series of efficient rack-mount UPSs for network devices.
Netwatch 5, which now works with all MGE Office Protection Systems UPS families, monitors the activity of a single UPS through communication with Eatonâs various Network Management Cards (NMC). NetWatch alerts users of servers or workstations when a power failure occurs. During an extended power failure, the NMC informs all configured NetWatch clients that it is time to shut down their respective operating systems, thus preparing them for the removal of AC power.
