MONTBONNOT /Grenoble (France), June 5, 2008 - Hervé Tardy, 45, graduated from Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC) at Cergy-Pontoise in France (MBA-equivalent), started with the company in 1985 as a sales promoter for small UPSs in Northern France where he set up a network of IT resellers. In 1988 he became Europe Business Development Manager, still in the small UPS business. His understanding of the increasing problems in power management and electrical supply brought him to product marketing in 1990, where he developed the first communication offering of Merlin Gerin, establishing a relationship with a US-based software development company.

He then transitioned to a single phase product marketing position where he established the foundations of the product offering, inventing concepts that are still promoted today, such as switched receptacles or breakthrough products like the slim-line Pulsar ES 4 of 1994. Hervé was promoted to IT channels Sales Director (France) in 1994 with the challenge of setting up a network of IT distributors.

When MGE (headquarters in Montbonnot, France) was created in 1996, Hervé, who was in charge of the single phase marketing strategy, then moved to the US to become Marketing Director for North and South America (all products). In parallel, he attended the Stanford Executive Program in Marketing in 2000. That same year, he came back to the worldwide headquarters as Global Marcom and Business Development Director for single phase products.

Hervé was named Program Director in 2002 for all product lines between 5 and 30 kVA as well as the power management offering. This position gave him the opportunity to lead various R&D, purchasing and industrial teams of MGE in Europe and Asia. Hervé returned to the USA in January 2006 to rebuild a strong marketing department and to manage the Service Sales department.

He volunteered to join and lead the carved-out single-phase UPS business of MGE in February 2007, which is now operating under the MGE Office Protection Systems brand. Following the acquisition by Eaton Corporation, HervĂ© was promoted to the Vice President/General Manager position to lead the newly created single phase UPS division that regroups the activities of Eaton and MGE Office Protection Systems. The headquarters of this Distributed Power Quality Division is in “Inovallee”, Montbonnot, near Grenoble (Southeastern France). More than 140 people are based at the headquarters, inaugurated in April 2008.

HervĂ© is fond of History. He contributed a lot to the recognition of the “GrĂ©sivaudan” region (close to Grenoble, France) as a Middle-Age patrimony. He is the author of several books on the subject.
